I hear a lot of business owners talking about shifting to Industry 4.0 as the ultimate solution to overcome the challenges brought on by the current global economic crisis. But just how are Industry 4.0 RMG factories going to be smarter?
- Is it because of the cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and data analytics?
- Is it the cloud-based data connectivity?
- Is it turning decisions over to robots who, in the next few decades, will become fully equipped with cognitive and intelligent systems?
It took Industry 3.0 half a century to evolve. The shift to Industry 4.0 won't happen overnight. So what should RMG factories be doing now in order to be in a position to fully enjoy the benefits of becoming part of the Industry 4.0 era?
First and foremost, factories need to be looking at their current financial performance and addressing the ongoing problems which remain unsolved. Regardless of whether their manufacturing systems are Lean or conventional, most factories are still relying on existing management and workers to miraculously improve daily production output. Just having Industry 4.0 smart machines, cloud connectivity and more data analysis doesn't guarantee improvement. Without real change in the entire organization – all its manufacturing and management systems and structures - that simply isn't going to happen.
The purpose of this webinar is to give an overall picture and clear understanding of how a factory can efficiently and optimally use available resources to re-design its manufacturing platform. It focuses on identifying skill gap levels for reskilling the workforce. It helps determine the types of smart solutions the factory needs and how to implement those solutions in order to transform operations to successful Smart Manufacturing.
